Meet our Board Members

Board Members

Jackie Holcomb

As one of HRS True Hope’s founding members and current Board President, Jackie has a vested interest in each of the projects. She goes to the places served, is hands-on and builds meaningful relationships along the way. Shelter Children’s is not just an orphanage. It is where she has an adopted son! Mexico is not just another third-world country. It is where she has grown a family!

She leads True Hope by strategically planning into the future and challenging the status quo. She focuses on the big picture and evaluates expansion opportunities. She is excited about this generation of Board of Directors and encourages them to strive for excellence while serving with humility in all areas.

Jackie believes God has called everyone to use their talents and treasures to serve those who have not, and has claimed Matthew 28:19-20 as her life verse.
Go and make disciples of every nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Melissa Shiramizu

Melissa is one of the founding members, a current Board Member and the Director of Communications. She has the opportunity to lead people to serve through the organization’s social media and quarterly newsletter. Her desire is to move people by telling inspiring stories of hope that stir them to become a part of the work HRS True Hope does.

She is passionate about caring for children and has dedicated her life to healing the disabled as a pediatric occupational therapist. Melissa and her husband David have two biological children and a daughter they adopted when she was three years old.

Melissa believes it is important for her to be involved at True Hope because God commands us to love and serve others while we are here on Earth. She wants to be the hands and feet of Jesus, glorifying him every step of the way. This role honors that commandment. An added bonus is she gets to serve alongside dear friends who bring her joy and laughter through the process!

Payton Holcomb

Growing up in a family deeply dedicated to serving those in need, Payton has been involved with HRS True Hope from a very young age. She is responsible for event management, planning and organizing events that support the organization’s mission. Whether coordinating mission trips or hosting fundraising events, Payton contributes her skills in planning, logistics and communication.

Payton is dedicated to missions and services because it is a family value held close to her heart. An impactful experience that engrained this value in her life was living in Mexico in XYZ. During this time, she was able to immerse herself in the culture and better understand and love the people we serve. Being a part of the community allowed her to see first hand the struggles and joys of the people in Piedras Negras, Mexico.

Payton encourages others to get involved with HRS True Hope because it offers a way to make a real difference in the world. Through service, missions, and faith, True Hope supports communities that are overlooked. Being involved with this non-profit  means spreading love and the message of the Lord in powerful, life changing ways.

David Shiramizu

As a founding member, David has been dedicated to HRS True Hope for decades. It is important for him to be involved because it allows him to give back a portion of what he’s been blessed with, especially to vulnerable children and communities. His intention is to invest his time, treasure and talents to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever the needs may arise.

David wants you to know that True Hope allows people to reach out beyond their local community to transform lives of those less fortunate. There are opportunities that expand past monetary donations. You can participate in various Mexico projects and even travel to Africa to see first hand how Shelter Children’s Home or Berur Street Care ministry meet the needs of vulnerable children.
